Mandee |@santoshapilates great points! Thank you for taking time to provide this valuable insight! Yes, Arketa is more suited for virtual needs compared to momence (especially for solo home studio teachers). Totally agree that is is a math game to figure out which one works best for one’s needs 👍

Hello! Great question and I’m so happy to hear that people want to learn MORE! I am not certified by polestar, but I know they have great continuing ed opportunities that are evidence-based.

I also think a great resource to be well rounded is anything produced by ACSM, including their Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription.

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have questions!

Congrats on opening your business! I was fortunate to have a lawyer client who helped review my LLC paperwork for free. With that being said, it was a pretty straightforward process and I’d be happy to share the language we used to describe the business as I am the sole teacher and mostly teach privates.

Also, I am in the process of selecting software for scheduling (planning to expand to group classes and need it), and wanted to let you know that unless you select the HIGHEST priced package that Arketa offers, you will be paying a fee (likely 3%) for transaction fees ON TOP of Stripe’s processing fees. As the only one teaching and making money, I do not want to lose an extra 3% of revenue. As such, I recommend looking into other companies that do not have processing fees. I know Momence does not have processing fees for individual users (aka, one teacher) who go with their “Pro” plan which starts at $60/month. I hope this helps! Also, I used Wix to set up my website because I thought it provided a bit more room for creativity and customizing than square space.

Hello! I’m new to this group! I am located in Cambridge, MA, and am planning a studio expansion to hopefully open in Jan 2025. I am the sole owner and teacher, and will be adding more space and equipment to be able to offer small group equipment and mat classes. With this, I will need to hire a teacher or two. Any advice on all things related to hiring is appreciated (e.g., did you use a lawyer to draw up employment contracts, offer health insurance, payment structure, and timeline for hiring people when planning an expansion). Many thanks for any help provided!

Hello! I’m new here, but wanted to offer some info. I have some equipment (Cadillac/reformer combo, chair, ladder barrel) by BASI or body arts and sciences. Their equipment is very beautiful, sturdy, and functional. It does cost more, but you get what you pay for. Their springs feel like they have a bit higher tension than balanced body, but less than Gratz and peak. I hope this is helpful - happy to chat more one on one!
