Any favorite materials (books, online workshops, thought leaders, etc) for anatomy training? I'm personally interested in deepening my anatomy knowledge, and also have heard a lot of interest from apprentices in the certification program at my studio.

The next wave of instructors seems to be more curious about the "why" (and not just "how") of fitness training. It's wonderful to see ❤️

Schedule / Substitute Teachers

My Pilates studio is grappling with frequent sub requests (and unfortunate class cancellations when request can't be filled). Instructors are not full time employees, and many have chosen this career largely for its flexibility. How are other studios navigating schedule commitments with instructors?

I've personally been on both sides of the issue... most of my teaching career has been private/not committed to a studio's schedule because of the opportunity cost.

My team is discussing solutions... the idea of a financial "penalty" is being floated, but something about that just doesn't sit right with me.

Do any of your Pilates studios offer rentals for instructors? Our studio is known primarily as a teacher training (certification) studio, and offers its alumni (and studio instructors/faculty) the option to rent studio access by the hour to bring in/teach your own clients.

IMO, the policy is a bit too lenient and inexpensive. I'm playing with the idea of an annual fee (in addition to rental fees) for anyone who wants to be able to rent. Or perhaps require a package of rentals?

There aren't many studios that offer this privilege around the city, so I think it needs to be handled more thoughtfully than it is now.

Thanks!

Opening up a Pandora's box here... would love to hear what brands of equipment (ahem, apparatus) people are using.

I'm Classically trained, and most comfortable with Peak equipment, but have been disappointed with quality ever since the company was acquired.

As much as I respect the authenticity of Gratz, it's off-putting to most folks. But on the other end of the spectum, Balanced Body/Allegro is way too "Fisher-Price" for my taste.

One of my peers recently outfitted her studio with the Spanish brand Elina. She's very happy, I'm still feeling it out.

Thanks in advance! ❤️
