I would love to see any similar sequencing for Mindbody!

Dominique Tan it's a good question... I've found that some of the best instructors are dancers/actors who have sporadic auditions, etc. It seems that there aren't many folks who are exclusively teaching pilates (under$tandably...).

Happy to hear. Each tough conversation is a growth moment :)

I've always used Philadelphia, but tbh never did much research. It was recommended to me when I was first certified.

Agree with you... just to clarify, the (hypothetical) penalty wouldn't be for time off, but rather for persistent last minute rescheduling. I'm totally with you, though...

The concern is about disrupting a culture of constant, frantic schedule changes, and the financial/energetic impact this behavior has on studio operations.

As an independent worker, you're responsible for your own economic wellbeing. Studios (should) understand that your commitment is relative to the studio's commitment to you. Unless you're salaried (which is v rare in fitness) or contracted, I think it's understandable to adjust your availability as needed (with appropriate notice) without much more explaination.

You could invite a conversation about how to ramp up your involvement at Studio A, thus eliminating the pivot to Studio B. But only if that makes sense in your calculations...

Hope this helps! Happy to chat offline rachel.olivia@gmail.com

Any favorite materials (books, online workshops, thought leaders, etc) for anatomy training? I'm personally interested in deepening my anatomy knowledge, and also have heard a lot of interest from apprentices in the certification program at my studio.

The next wave of instructors seems to be more curious about the "why" (and not just "how") of fitness training. It's wonderful to see ❤️

Schedule / Substitute Teachers

My Pilates studio is grappling with frequent sub requests (and unfortunate class cancellations when request can't be filled). Instructors are not full time employees, and many have chosen this career largely for its flexibility. How are other studios navigating schedule commitments with instructors?

I've personally been on both sides of the issue... most of my teaching career has been private/not committed to a studio's schedule because of the opportunity cost.

My team is discussing solutions... the idea of a financial "penalty" is being floated, but something about that just doesn't sit right with me.
